Home and Away fans divided over Harper’s ‘desperate’ move after tragedy: ‘Stop’
Harper proves to have the worst timing of anyone in Summer Bay.
Home and Away fans are begging for Harper Matheson to basically calm the f**k down after she questioned Tane Parata if they were a couple barely a week after he buried his ex-wife Felicity Newman.
Harper hasn’t always been known as the queen of good timing and it appears her anxious attachment style is getting the better of her. After blurting out to Tane that she was pregnant with his child at the wake of Felicity, Harper later accosted him on the beach where he was talking to his former brother-in-law and brother-in-mourning Cash, and thought it was a good time for the “so what are we?” chat.
Harper, you’re talking to a straight man! It’s never a good time for that chat!
Harper corners Tane for the ‘what are we chat?’
Harper then decided to throw Alf under the bus, telling Tane that Alf was the one questioning if they were a couple as though some 80-year-old grumpy man really cares that deeply and it’s not her chaotic brain wondering if her Baby Daddy will ever want to lock her down.
Harper asked Tane to elaborate on what he meant when he referred to them as family, saying Alf was calling them a couple. “Is that what we are now?” she asked a confused-looking Tane, who was probably wondering how he’s now ended up in a love triangle with Harper and Alf.
Anyway. End beach scene. Next minute, the two are sitting at Salt, Tane’s dead ex-wife’s establishment, and Tane was telling Harper he should’ve chosen his words more carefully. “But it’s early days,” he said. “And I still haven’t had a chance to think about what this means for us.”
Umm, triggered. We’ve all heard that line before, amirite? But normally it’s being said by a British traveller who’s ending a three-month situationship with you to go find himself in Thailand. Anyway, I digress.
Harper assures Tane that she knows he’s not in love with her and that she doesn’t “expect me being pregnant will change that” even though you can tell she secretly does hope for exactly that. But to be fair, she is wondering still WTF Tane means when he’s referring to them as family.
“For me, it means taking care of each other,” Tane said. “That’s a nice sentiment, but that’s kind of vague,” Harper said in retaliation, giving me a line I can now pocket for future Tinder matches. Thanks queen!
Tane leaned into his Fboy past, deftly swerving Harper’s directness by saying they have a lot of stuff to figure out, but that Harper and the baby are his top priority now and that’s what family means to him. Family means looking after your baby and the woman carrying the child. Groundbreaking.
Home and Away fans are divided over Harper’s timing once again
Given Harper’s timing is, as always, not fantastic, Home and Away fans are unsure how they want this relationship to progress.
“Come on Harper why worry about a relationship now… obviously if you get with Tane, he would only be with you cause you’re pregnant not because he wants to,” one pissed off fan said. “Like, geez, stop being desperate and let him breathe.”
“I’ve seen real desperate and IMO she’s not, just seems to me she just wants to know where they stand,” one argued in Harper’s defence. “Whether they’re two friends raising a child together or doing it as a couple, I think that’s fair and understandable.”
“Poor Harper, feeling like the consolation prize,” another fan commented.
“She is a stalker, every time Tane turns round she is there, anyone’s worst nightmare,” someone else said., while another passionate fan ranted, “Oh come on Harper, Tane doesn’t want to be with you just cause he knocked you up, doesn’t mean he wants a relationship.”
